Pallacanestro Trieste

Pallacanestro Trieste 2004, also known for sponsorship reasons as Acegas A.P.S. Trieste is an Italian professional basketball team from the town of Trieste.

In 2009/2010 season it will play in the Italian LNP A Dilettanti (third-highest level division). The team home arena is Palatrieste.

It was established in 1975. It has reached the Korać Cup final in the 1993/94 season and played in the top Italian division Serie A in 1982-86, 1990-97 and 1999-2004. The best result in the league was 3rd place in the 1993/94 season. The team has also reached the Italian Cup final in the 1994/95 season. After the 2003/04 season it went bankrupt and was sent to the lower leagues. In the past, due to sponsorship deals, it has also been known as Lloyd Trieste (1974-75), Hurlingham Trieste (1976-81), Oece Trieste (1981-82), Bic Trieste (1982-84), Stefanel Trieste (1984-94), Illy Caffè Trieste (1994-96), Genertel Trieste (1996-98), Lineltex Trieste (1997-99), Telit Trieste (1999-01), Coop Nordest Trieste (2001-02, 2003-04) and Acegas Trieste (2002-03).[1]

Another team from Trieste, Società Ginnastica Triestina, played in Serie A from 1930s to the 1960s, winning several Italian championships in the 1930s and 1940s. Three more teams from Trieste played in Serie A, Lega Nazionale Trieste (1949-1951), San Giusto Trieste (1948-1949) and Polizia Civile Trieste (1949-1950).
